Tracie Ortiz

Tracie Ortiz is an Instructional Designer at ODU in the Center for Learning and Teaching. She has been fortunate to explore how online learning can be accessible to many and to implement the practice of accessible course design in online learning environments. After earning a Master’s Degree in Deafness and Habilitation, Dr. Ortiz taught in K-12 approximately 10 years, working with individuals with hearing loss under the field of Special Education. She also had the opportunity to teach in various locations in grades K-12, as well as teach as an adjunct instructor at various universities and colleges. She earned a PhD in Educational Technology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her current work at ODU includes the development of accessible course design in online learning.
